MODESTO - NEW SEVENTH STREET BRIDGE

Description:  The New Seventh Street Bridge is the replacement of a beloved Downtown Modesto landmark constructed in 1916, an architecturally significant bridge over the Tuolumne River Regional Park, and gateway into Downtown along the historic route of US Highway 99. The City’s brief called for a widened bridge with provisions for active transportation (walking and cycling) in addition to vehicular traffic, and a new interpretation of the historic bridge’s structural and architectural design, based on a 21st Century ethos. In our winning proposal and interview, the team presented two model design concepts as examples of our highly visionary, participatory approach.
